OOC Information:
Name: Nikki
Are you over 15? Indeed!
Contact: AIM/skype @ diaryxchan, or [plurk.com profile] ladysassacre

IC Information:
Name: Preincarnation was Sango, and had no canon last name. Reincarnation is Sonja Spencer.
Canon and medium: InuYasha, mainly manga canon but with some anime filler thrown in because anime filler is the best.
Age: 16
Preincarnation Species: Human
Preincarnation Appearance: here & here
Any differences: Here Obviously she doesn't run around in armor or kimonos anymore, or carry around an arsenal of weapons; she's also mostly Caucasian as opposed to Japanese. But she's got the same long dark hair and eyes.
Preincarnated History: Basically, preincarnated Sango lived in a version of feudal Japan where demons were a part of daily life. Here is a convenient link to the full story, but TL;DR she's a demon slayer from a village full of them; the half-demon villain Naraku slaughters everyone she's ever known and loved in order to neutralize the threat they pose, and uses her brother to kill several colleagues and their father, and to try to kill her. She doesn't die, but eventually joins forces with the main crew consisting of half-demon Inuyasha, time-traveling priestess Kagome, lecherous monk Miroku, and kitsune child Shippo. Naraku resurrects her dead brother to do his dirty work and uses him to manipulate Sango often, and during the course of the story she falls in love with Miroku despite his womanizing ways. There's a lot of shenanigans, comic relief, romantic intrigue, and villain-of-the-week-vanquishing. In the end, the group defeats Naraku, and Sango lives happily ever after with her friends, brother, and husband-to-be in tact, and goes on to have a bunch of really cute babies.

Reincarnated History: Sonja was born in 1997 Minneapolis, the second child to Elaine and Nathaniel Spencer, succeeding her brother Harley by four years and preceding a second brother, Milo, by five. Her father was a long-time police officer and her mother was a housewife who occasionally sold art and who died soon after her younger brother's birth do to complications. Elaine's death hit Sonja pretty hard even as a six-year-old, but it impacted her brother Harley much more, changing him from a happy-go-lucky ten-year-old boy to a very serious and introverted one.

When the occasional bonuses from Elaine's art sales stopped coming in, her father also had to take on extra hours. The three Spencer children were always provided for and they were never dirt poor, per se, but more often than not there was some finagling to do at the end of every month to make ends meet. The load lightened a little when Harley was old enough to start working part-time at a family friend's restaurant, but by then Sonja had learned not to take most things for granted.

Despite the shadow of her mother's death and the frequent absences of her father and elder brother, Sonja had a relatively normal and loving relationship with all of her immediate family. Her father was a kind man and supported his children in all of their athletic and academic pursuits and hobbies. Her older brother took care of her and baby Milo for a long while, until Sonja learned the ropes of helping out as he became more consumed with his studies. Milo was always the baby on the family and Sonja couldn't help but dote on him when he didn't drive her crazy, acting almost like a mother to the child that grew up to be painfully shy and an easy target. There were the standard brother drawbacks, of course; with Harley often being more interested in hanging out with girls his own age instead of his baby sister, Milo being too young to be all that entertaining and demanding in his needs besides, and the fact that living in a house full of boys meant she was destined from the start to become a tomboy. In fact, her tomboyishness even surpassed her brothers' boyishness. Sonja found herself the outgoing sports enthusiast who never cried or cared about the way she dressed, as opposed to her quieter and more bookish brothers.

Basically, Sonja had a pretty great life up through her teenage years. She entered her freshman year of high school as Harley entered the state college on a full scholarship and Milo entered fourth grade, and she successfully managed to balance a rotating schedule of sports with a part-time job and caring for him (which occasionally included standing up to his bullies). Her father was gone at work a lot that year, working tirelessly to solve a particularly gruesome serial killer case he'd been assigned to. Overwhelmed and frustrated with the departure of her eldest brother and the mantle of responsibility that had settled on her shoulders because of that, on top of her father's absences and her little brother's apparent magnetism for bullies and her slowly dropping grades, Sonja wasn't in a particularly happy place. She managed to get into more than one fight at school, though it's worth noting that it was usually because her opponent was being a bully to someone who couldn't defend him or herself. Late in the year, her brilliant father that put together the final clue that led to the raid on the prime suspect's house, and for his efforts, he was killed in the ensuing shoot-out.

All three of the Spencer kids were devastated. Without a legal guardian, Sonja and Milo couldn't continue living in their almost-suburban house in Minneapolis. Harley was nineteen, but he would have to drop out of college and get a full-time job to support his siblings. Luckily, however, a solution presented itself in the form of Nathaniel's will: the siblings would be shipped off to Locke City to live with their late mother's brother, Garth Sweet. Harley's scholarship was non-transferable and he remained in Minnesota while Milo and Sonja transferred.

Uncle Garth and his wife Theresa were key facilitators the Lock City Museum of History, specializing in acquisitions. The youngest Spencer kids found the two of them agreeable and entertaining, if eccentric and often away traveling to inspect and transport museum pieces. They were a little more well-off than the Spencers had been on their own, though not by any means wealthy. Either way it was a refreshing change of pace. Sonja entered her sophomore year at the city's public high school and soon resumed most of the sports she'd done in Minnesota, including establishing herself as the sole female on the school wrestling team. She also started working part-time at the museum, mostly at the front desk with reception or computer files. This continued through the year to her current position, just starting her junior year, receiving a strange memory after enrolling in a local martial arts class and seeing numbers in her head.

First Echo: What caused their first Echo, and what did it give them? Players may choose events from the timeline or a canon recurrence. Keep these Echoes simple, but meaningful, and keep in mind that returned effects/objects caused by canon recurrences must be directly related to the event giving them back. If re-apping, please include all of their previously-obtained Echoes.

Preincarnation Personality: Sango is a kind, thoughtful young woman. As an eldest child, she is afforded a large sense of responsibility and maternal instinct. She is trustworthy and loyal and believes strongly in family ties, ancestry, and traditions. One might call Sango old-fashioned in her ideas, but she has a pretty open mind (i.e., she's the first and only female demon slayer in a village full of males working the trade). And yet she relies heavily on first impressions and opinions of a person's character, and is liable to judge. Despite this, her time with InuYasha in particular has taught her that not everyone is as they seem on the surface, and though she'll have little patience with those she deems distasteful, she won't disregard them or ignore them--she may even take the time to get to know them to figure out why they are that way.

Sango can be stubborn and obstinate and will stick to her guns, so to speak. Pretty much the only times her opinions will change are when a good argument or example is provided by someone she cares about, or when she learns her lessons on her own, the hard way. Her ideals are usually set in stone and she tries very hard to see the world in black and white: gray areas of moral deliberation really do bother her, keep her up at night. As such, she often struggles with decisions, thinking them over for a long time. She's only impulsive when her emotions get the best of her (which is more than she likes to admit) but she tries to have as few regrets as possible and is very firm in her choices.

She tends to be cautious, again, when not overridden by emotion. She's brave, almost stupidly and suicidally so, but far from fearless. She has a huge willpower--enough to have dragged herself from her own grave, still kicking--and a fighter's instinct leaves her usually calm and collected in stressful situations, as long as she can remain detached. She is tough as nails, after all, but her heart has taken its fair share of beatings. Sango is soft-spoken but firm, quiet but meaningful, and not shy so much as not one to waste words. She's friendly and warm, and she can be physically aggressive and vengeful, though she often has trouble articulating her feelings into words. She's not afraid to trade blows, and will stand up for what she believes is right if she needs to, but she also knows the value of not getting into pointless arguments. (All of this, of course, is subject to her temper.)

She puts others before herself nearly to a fault, and it's very hard to change her mind, especially with this: her loved ones are literally everything to her, and she is not above going against her own morality or double-crossing to protect them. Whenever possible, she will attempt to get the best of both worlds by saving her loved ones and also taking out the bad guy (i.e. the arc when she stole Tessaiga for Naraku), which often hurts more than it helps. Unfortunately, that also means that past loyalties and responsibilities can take precedence over present ones, even if the present ones are more important, logically. When alone or thoughtful she can often lapse into melancholy, but she's learned not to let a moment of happiness slip away when they're so rare. Despite this, she tends to worry a lot, and sometimes seems more like an old woman than a teenage girl.

For the most part, Sango is practical and down-to-earth, but she has fleeting closet romantic moments. She is shy in the face of compliments, praise, or romantic insinuations, often becoming flustered and inarticulate. Sango is serious but good-natured, and she generally does not find humor in the pain or mistakes of others (unless they really deserve it); however, she will chuckle at goofball antics and classic jokes. If anything, she will probably take offense to perverted jokes and remarks, retaliating with physical violence. (That, my friends, is canon.)

Sango is mostly confident, and her pride as a warrior is inerasable, but she is often self-deprecating, modest, or stricken by lapses of self-confidence. Naraku calls her "a girl not to give chances to, or be careless with," and for once he is correct. Her brother is the most important thing to her in the entire world, and she will do nearly anything for his sake. And Sango hates few things more than she hates being alone.

Despite the fact that she's totally human and somewhat harmless to those of supernatural power, an angry Sango is a terrifying one. She is, as stated, aggressive and violent, her words become biting and ruthless, and she can hold a grudge with the best of them. Her temper is red-hot and it brands, and she knows that it often causes her to make bad decisions, so after its passing it's not unlikely for her to apologize if she thinks she's wrong or if the victim of her anger was a friend of hers. A friend is worth more than her pride.

Any differences: Sango is the same as her preincarnation in many ways. She's still kind, trustworthy, practical, and responsible. She still has a red-hot, somewhat terrifying temper that prompts bad decisions and an incredible sense of loyalty. But growing up in the modern world as a museum curator's daughter instead of a demon slayer has had its impact. Where before, Sango was incredibly mature, her reincarnation acts a great deal more like a sixteen-year-old girl should. She smiles much more and is generally a much happier person, since she's been spared the trauma of a massacred village and zombie brother. Her sense of humor has evolved alongside her general happiness and she's less serious than her preincarnation, and she is much more prone to engage in sarcasm and similar banter.

She is still somewhat quiet until you get to know her, but she retains her boldness.

Abilities: What abilities did your character's preincarnation have? To what extent were they used? Include any equipment they had access to and any skills they had. Headcanon should be indicated in italics, as before. You may write a brief synopsis and link to a more detailed resource if you wish. Favor conciseness here, and try to limit (or else otherwise elaborate upon) canon terminology to avoid confusion.

Roleplay Sample - Third Person: Some form of extended, third-person prose exhibiting strong voice and key behaviors of your character. If the voice is weak or the characterization appears to be off, revisions may be asked for.

Roleplay Sample - Network: Same as above, but in network-style format, using text, video, audio, etc. This MUST be on the network.
*Note: One of the samples (of your choice) must be done from the perspective of the reincarnated character, set within the game. Samples from the test drive community may be used for this purpose.

Jaime Reyes
The Blue Beetle
FRIEND
One of the first people Sango met in Exsilium, Jaime also reserves a spot as one of the people she's become closest to. The culture gap is wide and they're both always learning new things about each other and this world, and as much as Sango will protest that it doesn't matter to her how old her friends are, there is something comforting in having someone your age to endure Exsilium with. She has only good things to say about Jaime: he is kind and good-hearted, sweet and considerate, smart but not condescending, brave and dependable. She doesn't realize it, but he's also one of very few people--in Exsilium and otherwise--who can make her smile like an ordinary teenager probably should.
Thereth
World of Warcraft
(VERY MATERNAL) FRIEND
Thereth is both a fearsome nonhuman warrior that could probably rip a head off with her pinky finger and a really maternal lady who likes to bake cookies for orphans. She and Sango hit it off immediately, from said cookie-baking to the occasional spar to plans for shopping. Sango really likes knowing someone who's both seriously strong and also knows how to take care of the domestic side of life, and she doesn't mind the mothering nearly as much as she pretends she does.
Governor Kang
Dragonlance
FRIEND AND SPARRING PARTNER
Kang is also one of the first people Sango met here and enjoys a status as one of her closest friends as well--though perhaps their relationship has a stronger foundation on the camaraderie between soldiers than on hanging out and watching movies. She has a lot of respect for Kang and always enjoys conversing with him, and she's very grateful that he's also now helping to teach her to read. Despite all this, she doesn't know as much about him as she probably should.
Kyubey
Puella Magi Madoka Magica
USED CAR SALESMAN
Sango is not familiar with cars, let alone of the used variety or with the shady people who sell them. Nor is she yet aware that Kyubey is a shady creature selling a deal without telling her about all of its side effects. After all, who can question a face that cute? ...okay, she can, and she has, and she realizes that making a Contract was probably not the best idea and really didn't accomplish what she meant it to. But what's done is done, and Kyubey is here to help her out with navigating her new existence as a magical girl, and as far as she knows, the only thing she's really supposed to do is fight Witches, which don't even show up here. Things can't go that badly, right? ...right?
Riku
Kingdom Hearts
FRIENDLY ACQUAINTANCE
Another person Sango's known for a while. Riku is generally a pretty charming guy, not to mention one who's more than a little impressive in a fight. Her few conversations with him have left her curious but amicable, and she won't mind if she has a few more.
Blaine Thorps
Original
FRIEND AND TEACHER WHO FLIRTS A LOT
Blaine is the one who taught Sango how to fire a gun properly. Thus began a pretty puzzling but also strangely fulfilling friendship where she has gotten fussed over, philosophized at, and even occasionally kind of flirted with, and Sango is a little surprised to report that she doesn't mind most of it all that much. She knows that she doesn't know everything about Blaine, is perceptive enough to realize that he carries more baggage than his cheerful face lets on. But she believes that Blaine is a good person at heart, and she is glad to have him as a friend and adviser and hairdresser.
Coby
One Piece
FRIEND AND TEACHER
A pretty strange guy, Coby is. He's also the man who's teaching her how to reach physical strength she never even dreamed of, even if achieving it means coming home covered in bruises most of the time. Sango is grateful to have him as a teacher and as a friend; he is generally kind, he is strong, and his ideals are the kind that she can only support wholeheartedly. He is pretty awkward on more than one occasion in ways that puzzle her, and he's much more self-deprecating than she thinks he should be, but Sango cares a lot for Coby and enjoys his presence.
Chrono
Chrono Crusade
FRIEND AND TEACHER
Chrono is probably the most polite demon Sango's ever met. She was more than a little surprised to meet someone like him, to find him hiding his heritage and actually functioning as an exorcist against his own species. She still regards him as a puzzle, even if she's grown fond of his personality and of his rapport with the energetic Rosette. Sango never in her life thought she'd be getting reading lessons from a demon in exchange for cookies, and yet here she is.
Rosette Christopher
Chrono Crusade
FRIENDLY ACQUAINTANCE
Rosette is energetic, kind, comical, and not somebody to be messed with. Sango has been fond of her since they met, reminded of her friend from home Kagome's bright spirit. She is pretty curious about this girl and the rapport she shares with Chrono, and hopes to have more reason in the future to run into her.
Nathan Summers
Marvel 616
MENTOR
Their relationship began as business, when Sango volunteered to be a part of a special operations squad he was assembling in order to try and accomplish things within Exsilium. The organization of the group reminds her of fighting as a team with her troupe of demon slayers so long ago. From perhaps repeated contact alone Sango has grown to like Nate, with his serious and gruff but also kind and practical nature that reminds her of some of her neighbors from the demon slayer village. She thinks he's incredibly capable and respects and trusts him a lot, mostly as a fellow fighter but also, slowly but steadily, as a person.
Collette
Animorphs
FRIENDLY ACQUAINTANCE
Another optimistic teenage acquaintance who's kind, humorous, and fun to talk to. Collette has a quality of always seeming to be able to put a smile on peoples' faces, and Sango admires that about her. She likes Collette a lot and hopes to get to know her better.
Rudy Wade
Misfits
ROOMMATE
A pretty weird dude, who has a doppelganger that also lives with them, and also a really terrible track record as a roommate.
Seras Victoria
Hellsing
ROOMMATE
In the beginning Seras was nice enough that Sango thought she had actually gotten a semi-normal roommate, for once. And then she learned that Seras is a dead thing that drinks human blood. All Sango's instincts say this is bad news, but... Seras' blood is donated, so... it's... okay?
Caesar Silverberg
Suikoden III
ACQUAINTANCE AND STUDENT
Sango became his teacher by coincidence, upon discovering him being pretty incompetent with a sword in the training facilities. She's grown pretty fond of him since and enjoys their banter more than she'll admit, but she also dislikes the parts of his personality that are lazy or apathetic, and the two of them stand to have clashing opinions...

RESIDENCE. Moonbase West Wing Unit 196
POSSESSIONS. Here.
WEAPONS/ABILITIES. See above for details; Hiraikotsu, wakizashi, chain, rope & grapple, poisons, a hidden blade on her arm, a pair of .22s with larger firearms sought if the situation calls for it. She's also been doing crazy One Piece training with Coby since early July 2013, and has been building up significant extra strength from it. A late September Contract with Kyubey has made her a magical girl.
EXPLORATION. A lot of the city and a chunk of the wastelands (which no longer exist!). She'll have the moon base pretty well-mapped by mid-October.
GOALS. Make the Initiative less useless. Be less useless. Save the Exiles slaughtered in the nuke attack in late September. Don't die.
permissions.
TRIGGERS. She won't go into full-blown panic attacks, but her ~tragic past~ tends to be a rather depressing subject for her.
MEDICAL INFO.She has a lot of scars catalogued here. As of her Contract with Kyubey, she has magical super-healing and can't feel pain.
MENTAL INFO. Nothing worth diagnosing, but she's pretty broken at the moment, oops.
FOURTH-WALLING. Not that most characters have a reason to, but you're welcome to if so.
BACKTAGGING. Forever and always welcome!
PHYSICAL CONTACT.
Go ahead, but if it's perverse, expect a smack or five.
ROMANCE/SEXUAL RELATIONS. She's not particularly looking for it, but go ahead and try. (Note: mun does not smut, and will substitute a FTB.)
INJURE/KILL. Go for it, man. Death is probably fine too but please contact me first.
DEVICE HACKING. Pretty much the easiest thing ever considering her complete lack of familiarity with any technology! Go ahead.
THREADJACKING. Unless it's something super serious (in which case ask permission), go for it.
ANYTHING ELSE. Characters able to sense it will notice that her soul is separate from her body and that her cat is a demon.
